Segarjaya Village & The Legend of The Sacred Tomb of The Virgin and The Origin of Putri Island Beach
In Karawang there is a village, namely Segarjaya Village. This village is located in Karawang and is directly adjacent to Bekasi Regency. Segarjaya village has a very beautiful natural scenery, especially in the morning and evening. There are many rice fields in this village. moreover, at the end of this village there is a beach, namely Pulau Putri Beach which is not widely known by the public.
Segarjaya Village is located in Batujaya District, Karawang Regency, West Java. Segarjaya Village has an area of 19.26 KM. Segarjaya Village has a population of 6,250 people, spread over 3 hamlets, 17 RT and 3 RW. Segarjaya village also has natural potential consisting of rice fields and the sea. Some of the people are farmers, fishermen, and breeders. Also has potential in the tourism sector.
The people of Segarjaya Village have various activities in their daily lives, including looking for "Eceng Gondok" to be processed into handicrafts, and also looking for river grass or what people usually call Ganggeng for crickets feed. Not only that, Segarjaya Village also has several MSMEs, including Rumah Dodol Mr. Naman, which has been around for 25 years. In addition, there is also a Jembret Terasi production house which has been established for 4 years.
Along the road to Pulau Putri Beach, we will see tambak and many mangrove trees. For the entrance ticket for tourist to Pulau Putri Beach, a fee of Rp. 5,000/person. The access road to the location is quite easy and can be passed by two-wheeled vehicles, but the road access can"t be passed by four-wheeled vehicle.
Pulau Putri Beach is an elongated landmass and appeared in 2004. The beginning of the appearance of this beach was caused by the occurrence of high tides, then receded and created a land area of about 10 hectares. Because of this, at first the Putri Island Beach was called "Tanah Timbul". But over time the name "Pulau Putri" became the name of the beach. Not without reason, there are many stories circulating about this beach.
One of them is a story about a princess who has French descent who was stranded on the island so she called it Putri Island Beach.
Then there is another story about a small child who was swimming on the beach, while swimming the child was bitten by a sea snake which caused the child to die. Then at the mid night someone saw the arrival of horse carriage that descended into the sea. Some say that the child is a "Tumbal" requested by the Putri Island guards. These stories have become legends for generations to the residents of Karangmulya Hamlet, Segarjaya Village. Especially the people around the coast of Putri Island.
Although this beach has existed since 2004, not many tourists know about the existence of Pulau Putri Beach. This beach has its own uniqueness and beauty. The atmosphere offered is also still fairly beautiful because there are still many large trees such as Mangrove trees that surround the beach. So that the air produced is also very cool and suitable to be used as a place to travel with family. Although the road access that is passed is not good enough, access for two-wheeled motorized vehicles has been able to enter up to the shoreline. Different things with four-wheeled vehicles that have to park their vehicles outside the beach which makes tourists have to walk to get to Pulau Putri Beach.
